Tom Bernard Places First in City Preliminary for Mayor
Thank you to the voters of North Adams who participated in today's mayoral preliminary election. When you exercise your right to vote you are making an investment in the future of our city.
Thank you also to the tireless and unrivaled members of the Bernard for Mayor campaign team, our amazing campaign volunteers and supporters, and most especially to my family for supporting and sustaining me as we approached this campaign milestone.
North Adams mayoral candidate comments on the preliminary results and the upcoming city election.
Congratulations and thanks to the members of our North Adams community who stepped forward to run for mayor. It is neither an easy decision nor an effortless undertaking. Rachel Branch, Robert Martelle, Robert Moulton, Jr., and Peter Oleskiewicz have my sincere respect for their willingness to be considered for service as mayor of North Adams.
However the purpose of the preliminary was to narrow the field of five worthy candidates down to the two who will contend for election as the next mayor of North Adams in the election to be held on Tuesday, November 7. I am honored to have earned enough votes to be one of those candidates and I am especially gratified to have been the top vote getter in the preliminary.
I want to congratulate Councilor Moulton on his strong showing today and for being the other mayoral candidate who will appear on the November 7 ballot. I look forward to the civil, robust, and spirited conversation about the future of North Adams and our region that will be carried out during the coming weeks, both by Councilor Moulton and me as well as by our supporters. I am confident that I have the vision, the experience and the preparation to lead our city from day one of the next mayoral term, and I am eager to make that case to the voters of North Adams.
Today, the Bernard for Mayor campaign passed a key milestone on the road to the November 7 election, but we still have miles ahead of us. This is a moment to pause, catch our breath, and make a fresh start in our race.
